Desvenlafaxine 50mg

Desvenlafaxine 50mg (Newven) is an antidepressant of the SNRI (Serotonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor) class that may be prescribed to help with treating depression. SNRIs work by allowing the brain to produce more of the chemicals in the brain called Serotonin and Norepinephrine. Desvenlafaxine is also being considered as the first non-hormonal treatment for menopause. Desvenlafaxine is a synthetic form of the primary metabolite in venlafaxine.

Serotonin and Norepinephrine are believed to help with regulating the mood. However, the issue of this is complex as each person can have a different level of chemicals in the brain. That is why it can take time for the right amount of Desvenlafaxine to be determined. The doctor will start you with a low dose and then it can be gradually increased over time to get to where it offers the most overall benefit.

It is important to take Desvenlafaxine every single day, even when you are feeling better for the maximum benefits. It can take up to 4 weeks of use before someone is able to realize the benefits from this medication. It is very important that you don’t stop taking the medication though once you start to feel better.

Never stop taking this medication suddenly as it can result in withdrawal symptoms occurring. This can cause irritability, dizziness, shaking, headaches, vivid dreams, and sweating. Should the doctor determine you no longer should take Desvenlafaxine they will taper you off it to avoid such complications.

It is very important to tell your doctor about any forms of medication that you use. This includes prescription products, over the counter products, herbal items, and illegal street drugs. They can all interfere with how this medication is able to work for the improved mental well being of the patient.

Side effects that may be experienced with the use of Desvenlafaxine include loss of appetite, dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, vivid dreams, fatigue, excessive sweating, shaking, numbness in the limbs, and enlarged pupils. These side effects should go away after a few weeks of use.

If you experience any severe side effects though you need to make sure you tell your doctor about them immediately when taking Desvenlafaxine. They include rash, hives, difficulty breathing, changes in heart rate, and trouble with the vision.
