What is Canesten Vaginal Cream?
Canesten Vaginal Cream is mainly prescribed to treat vaginal thrush by stopping the growth and killing yeast fungus. The active ingredient clotrimazole belongs to a type of medications called azole antifungals. Treating vaginal thrush can help reduce burning, itching and vaginal discharge caused by the infection.

How is Canesten Vaginal Cream used?
Canesten Vaginal Cream is usually applied to the vagina 1 to 3 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The cream can be applied directly with the hands or an applicator. Double check the medication to confirm it is the cream to be used inside the vagina and not for the outer genital area. To apply the medication, lie down on your back and raise your knees towards the chest and insert the applicator as far as it can comfortably go. Press the plunger of the applicator and slowly release the cream. Withdraw the applicator, pull it apart and wash with soap and warm water after each use. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy.
