Zaditen Eye Drops (Ketotifen) Uses

Zaditen Eye Drops (Ketotifen) is anti-allergic eye drops prescribed for prevention and treatment of acute, subacute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, and seasonal (spring) conjunctivitis. Your doctor may also prescribe it for the treatment of other unlisted conditions.

Zaditen Eye Drops (Ketotifen) is anti-allergic, membrane stabilizing, antihistamines drug. It inhibits the release of histamine, leukotrienes, lymphokines and other biologically active substances from mast cells and basophils. It is not competitively blocking H1-histamine receptors, inhibits phosphodiesterase, and increases cAMP levels in cells. Zaditen Eye Drops (Ketotifen) suppresses the sensitization of eosinophils with recombinant human cytokines and their accumulation in target organs.

Zaditen Eye Drops (Ketotifen) Dosage and Administration

Strictly follow your doctor`s instructions for using Zaditen Eye Drops (Ketotifen) to get the most effective results from treatment. Most often adults and children over 12 years of age are given 1 drop in each eye 2 times a day.

Preventive administration under acute and chronic processes should start in 3 weeks before contact with allergen. Treatment continues throughout the exposure time of allergens. Duration depends on the type and severity of the disease.

It is suggested to gently shake the bottle before each use to mix its contents. Open the top, hold the applicator above the affected eye, gently pull down the lower lid of the eye, and dispense one drop into the pouch that is formed. Slowly close the eyelid to spread the medication and keep the eye closed for fifteen to thirty seconds to allow it to be absorbed.
