What is Efudix Cream?
Efudix Cream (Fluorouracil) works by interfering with the growth of skin cells to kill abnormal skin cells but will not harm normal cells. The active ingredient fluorouracil is considered an antimetabolites type of medication that destroys cancer cells and cells which may become cancerous. The cream is used in the treatment of a form of skin cancer called superficial basal cell carcinoma. Some people may also use the medication to treat solar or actinic keratoses, a skin condition where years of exposure to sunlight can cause scaly or crusted skin areas.

How is Efudix Cream used?
Efudix Cream (Fluorouracil) should only be applied topically as directed by a doctor, usually 1 to 2 times daily. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. Wash and dry your hands and the affected area before applying any of the cream. Spread a thin layer of the medication to the affected skin area with your fingertips and gently massage it in. Wash your hands immediately after applying the cream.
