Amlip containing the active ingredient amlodipine besylate is considered a calcium channel blocker type of medication. The medication can be used alone or along with other medication to help relax the blood vessels and allow the heart to pump blood easier as well as increasing the supply of blood to the heart. The tablets can be used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), certain types of chest pain (angina) and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease.
